Bootcamp 2Good Morning Guys,

Watched episode 3 of The Night Manager last night. Man, that series is getting juicy! And then super vivid dreams last night.

This all came after a busy day in the gym, and a one to one Bootcamp follow up appointment that stood out.

It was with a client who had been doing really well this year. She had lost a few kilos of fat and was looking fantastic. However, she still wants to lose another few kgs.

The first thing she said when she saw me yesterday was  –  ‘Dan, I’m not looking forward to this. I haven’t been good recently. Chocolates have got the better of me’.
The great thing is she didn’t cancel the appointment. She didn’t hide. She came and faced the results of chocolate splurging, because she wants to get back on the horse and go again.
The results weren’t that bad. The weight went up, but her body fat scores didn’t budge too much.
I see this time and time and time again. Someone has an indulgent weekend and then panics ‘big time’ as the weight soars. But this doesn’t mean body fat has also soared.

A bit of boring science:

When we splurge, we generally eat high sugar foods. Our digestive system breaks down the food and stores the sugar (known as glucose) in muscle cells, liver cells and fat cells. Without going too in depth and boring you –  every 1 gram of glucose in the liver is stored with 3 grams of water. So when we eat lots of sugar we store lots of water too which amplifies weight gain.
She wasn’t  was pleased the results, but they weren’t  as bad as she thought.
Secondly, we set out a plan for the week and a target.
She is back on the horse and moving forward. She has a new sense of motivation and determination.
So all good.
I saw a stat once, that said 90% of people who lose weight, put it back on.
It’s not all plain sailing. Life gets in the way, and that is normal. But it doesn’t mean we should give up. We should  brush ourselves down, work out a freshen up the strategy with a coach, and go again!
As I’ve said numerous times, fat loss is about perseverance
