Julie has been in the fitness industry since 18 years old and has been teaching Pilates for 22 years. She has a keen interest in sport therapy and rehabilitation, with a Masters diploma in sport therapy.
She qualified with a BA Hons in Recreation and Leisure Management. In 1984. Julie then proceeded to travel and work on cruise ships for 7 years running beauty salons and health clubs , working as a beautician, ,fitness, instructor and personal trainer.
Julie discovered Pilates in 1996 and qualified with the Pilates Foundation . She was trained by Trevor Blount in South Kensington ,who was trained by Alan Herdman ,,who was subsequently trained by Joseph Pilates himself .
Julie began to favour strengthening whilst lengthening the muscles typical during Pilates .Also working the key ‘Postural ‘muscles to create a deep internal core and Postural strength ,balance and alignment.
Julie went on to study other methods of moving and finding freedom in the body such as : Anatomy Trains , Somatics,Faldenkrais, Franklin Method and myo fascial release.
Blending all of her skill set together she works the whole person on all levels to find Freedom,Postural Balance,Strength,Flexibility ,Self Confidence . Rehabilitating her patients from pain and injury.
Working the “whole’’ person involves the ‘mind body’ connection which creates new neural pathways and change and results within her patients as the exercises become NEUROLOGICAL .
Julie creates a tailored program of appropriate exercise for all her patients and she
likes to guide her patients into a place of independence in their bespoke exercise program so they can have their own ‘skill set ‘of exercises to manage themselves at home too.
Julie is also a PT and can often include strength and conditioning to reshape, tone the appropriate parts of the patient especially where individuals are weak and need the extra support .In this setting it is done in a very ‘Pilates way ‘
