I visited Maria at 25 weeks pregnant barely able to walk with what a previous physio had diagnosed as SPD and told me that there was nothing further they could do and that it would get better on its own after the baby arrived.
Maria has been amazing and found that the root cause of my issue was something very treatable and within a few sessions I was much improved and 3 weeks on I'm back to full strength! Maria is friendly, supportive and very accommodating to work schedules - I can't recommend her and the team at Physio 4 Life enough!
Excellent physio - I had a nasty shoulder injury from swimming and after a few physio sessions with Maria Gkini and a routine of great exercises that she gave me, it's healed well. This is the second time I've been to Physio4Life for sports injury and in both cases I received really great treatment.
I can't recommend Physio4Life enough!
I've been seeing Maria Gkini for the last few months after a bad netball injury. She got me to an amazing place in preparation for my surgery which has meant a much easier recovery, we are continuing to work together post-surgery in order to get me back to sports. She is attentive, very knowledgeable and takes a huge amount of care with clients. She's able to deal with any concerns I might have and I've been incredibly impressed. I would highly recommend her.
Also, the reception team are really friendly and helpful :)
Maria Gkini is an advanced physiotherapist who graduated in Greece and successfully obtained a Masters in Advanced Physiotherapy at the University of Salford. Her post-graduate course was based on manual therapy that enhanced her dysfunction assessment skills.
After graduating, Maria immediately started working in a private practice as an MSK physiotherapist. She was one of the lead physios for the Greek national polo, swimming, synchronized swimming and diving teams and would accompany the athletes on important games, aid in their rehabilitation, as well as create injury prevention programs for them.
Maria has been a physio for many marathon events, and the Spartathlon-Ultramarathon in Greece. Her interest in sports rehabilitation has helped her be the personal physiotherapist for many football, basketball and volleyball players. Her work experience has increased her expertise in road traffic related accidents such as whiplash associated injuries.
Physiotherapy for Maria has been a way of life and her volunteering and support for local communities helped her gain experience in a variety of complex musculoskeletal, post-operative and after-stroke cases.
Her passion for physiotherapy and upgrading her knowledge led her on undertaking and successfully completing a Masters and other qualifications such as acupuncture. She has successfully completed the Pilates matwork course and trained on internal and external pelvic floor examination and rehabilitation.
Maria is focusing on having a holistic approach with each patient she comes across and is trying to detect the cause of each problem and not only provide short-term relief by reducing the symptoms.
When not working Maria enjoys participating in different sports, with volleyball being her favourite.
